therapist
Jake (he/him) is an engaging and caring psychologist and clinical registrar based in London who has worked with Headspace, the Barwon Health Eating Disorder Service and private practice for the LGBTQIAP+ community. Jake has a particular interest in queer and sexual diverse mental health, working as a facilitator for both the Anxiety Recovery Centre’s LGBTQIA+ support groups program and the ‘ESTEEM’ program for same-sex attracted men.
Jake aims to work collaboratively and compassionately with his clients, believing that a strong and honest therapeutic relationship is the best predictor of success in therapy. While making the choice to engage in therapy can sometimes feel confronting, Jake always works to create a safe and comfortable space for his clients to better connect with their authentic selves. Jake has a particular interest in working with adults and youth experiencing anxiety, depression, disordered eating, interpersonal and relationship difficulties, LGBTQIA+ concerns, and difficulties with self-worth/self-esteem.
Jake draws upon various different therapeutic interventions such as Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodyamic Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Compassion Focused Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). No matter the chosen intervention, Jake ensures that the client is the center of the therapeutic process and will always tailor each session to what feels right and meaningful to them.
